Always Check Your News Sources

Twitter news maven Vanessa Otero-  has provided a wonderful new &updated chart to help us navigate the sea of information flooding our feeds daily. Always check your sources before sharing. Does it use emotional buzz words to pull you in? Does it spin wishful fairytales that have no real base in fact? Breaking news is usually important, but double check where it comes from. See if you can find a 2nd source to corroborate the story, preferably from mainstream reputable news. Remember, it’s better to be the second person to post a good story, than the first to post a bad one…..

Just a few thoughts and my first post.

Hello Friends,

My name is Raven, a member of Teen Titans. I am working with the Heroes Resist group. We work toward making a difference in our world. Things are crazy and un-orthodox since the 2016 election. It is everyone responsibility to do things to make life better for all human. Donald J. Trump is a danger to the world and only we can do something. We can bug our members of congress to vote no or yes depending on the needs and want of the American people. We can register to vote and be involved in our local political environment. We must vote and we must vote blue. Republicans are a danger to democracy. They are bought and paid for by dark money. Democrats will do what is best for the country not their own pocket book. We must take back congress in 2018 and we can muzzle and leash the so-called president we have now.

“What If” Agents of Shield holds up a twisted mirror of what we could become.

You don’t have to watch every episode of AoS to understand ‘What If’.  Suffice to say, the team gets stuck in a VR/Matrixesque world, where events have turned everything on it’s ear. Mistakes were made, events happened, SHIELD has fallen, and HYDRA is out in the open, ‘protecting’ the USA now. All it cost us was our freedom. Twitter Resistance? What’s That?

Twitter: How a Silly Little Egg Hatched into a #Resistance Fighter.

Twitter. Four months ago, if you had asked me if I’d ever be a twithead I’d have said no way. Twitter was dumb, it was for teens, it was a waste of time. I didn’t understand it, and I didn’t want to. I was happy enough in my little bubble on Facebook. I could hide from my post-election depression. Continue reading “Twitter Resistance? What’s That?”

The White House asked to hear how ObamaCare has impacted people, I shared my simple story…..

How has ObamaCare impacted me? This is MY story, and the story of many.

With the introduction of Obamacare, my children and I were finally qualified for coverage under the Medicaid expansion. It was such a relief to be able to take my boys for well care visits, keep their immunizations up to date, and not have to worry about affording care for them in emergencies. Raised to #Resist

Raised to #Resist: Inspired by Sci-Fi, a Generation Grows Up Learning to Fight For a Better World.

It didn’t necessarily start with Star Trek. I’m sure people will find earlier instances, but Star Trek always seems to be the go-to for ‘hope for a better future’ in TV. We all know Gene Roddenberry’s dream for peace and inclusivity. A crew with no bias -gender, race, ethnicity, even aliens were welcome. Nobody asked for Spock’s green card. No one dared to tell Uhura to go make a sandwich. McCoy never asked for insurance cards. We watched, and we learned that Humanity had the potential for great things once we learned to work together.  Continue reading “Raised to #Resist”
